Yorkshire Day Beaumont Park Huddersfield 1 August

Yorkshire Day – An event organised by the Friends of Beaumont Park.   We were to do two performances but due to heavy rain managed to perform only once.  However we did do a number of dances and Jo who is a Lancashire Clogger (don’t tell those in Yorkshire!) performed a clog dance, whilst Sarah, one of our dancers, sang On Ilkley Moor Bar t’At.   Beaumont Park, from the little we saw of it, was lovely.  It was such a shame that the weather was so bad as the organisers had spent 9 months organising this event.

Buxton Weekend of Dance 18 July

This was a week-end of dance to celebrate Chapel-en-le-Frith’s 40th Anniversary.  Three original members of this team are still dancing 40 years on!  There were 16 teams who met in Buxton and performed around the town. At the end of the day, all teams did a showcase dance exhibition.  Fiddle ‘n’ Feet and Powderkegs were the only two teams to stay the week-end and we joined Chapel-en-le-Frith on Sunday morning outside the Opera House where we performed to a great crowd.   It was a most enjoyable week-end and great fun.

Durham Appalachian Dance Weekend 27/28th June.

We attended this event on Sunday 28th June. Only five dancers and one musician were available.  However as it was a wholly Appalachian dance week-end, we felt this was an event we could not miss.  There were approximately 6/7 teams and during the morning we attended a work shop and learnt a new dance which we hope to add to our repertoire.

We were due to perform in the Market Square at lunchtime but, due to heavy rain, we had to move inside the John Duck public house, where there was plenty of space and a wooden floor to perform on.  We had a great day despite inclement weather.
