Christmas Tree Festival, Northcliffe Church

Saturday, 16th December

Christmas Tree Festival, Northcliffe Church

We were delighted to be invited to dress a tree at our practice venue.  Our offer to dance at the Festival was enthusiastically accepted.

Alison, Cath and Kay attended on Friday, 15th to dress our tree with team-related decorations and in our team colours of blue and white, with a little silver thrown in!  The result was fantastic, though we say so ourselves.  Trees dressed by other users of the Hall were fantastic.

We had a lovely afternoon and we enjoyed dancing two performances to an enthusiastic audience.  We were joined by our friend Jo, who did some impressive Lancashire clog dances.

Proceeds of the event will go towards the refurbishment of the kitchen which adjoins the Hall.

Fiddle ‘n’ Feet at the Saltaire Festival

What do Fiddle ‘n’ Feet and Darth Vader have in common, apart from heavy breathing?  They were both at Rainbow Morris’ Day of Dance at Saltaire Festival!

Settle Folk Gathering, Saturday, 2nd September 2017

We had a fantastic day at the Settle Folk Gathering, dancing with our hosts Flagcrackers of Craven, and fellow guest teams Buttercross Belles, Crook Morris and YonLot in the Market Square.  The weather was very kind to us and we were received most enthusiastically by large crowds.  We were also given the opportunity to perform a dance, Laughing Boy, in Victoria Hall in front of Mike Harding and an appreciative audience.

A great time was had by all!

1:30pm Appalachian Beginners Workshop with “Fiddle ‘n’ Feet

If you would like to try out our style of dancing, please come and join us at our Workshop. Complete beginners are welcome and no experience is necessary.  Participants will be required to wear hard soled shoes or tap shoes.

Our workshop will commence with a performance of one of our dances.  We will then teach simple Appalachian steps from this dance which hopefully we will all perform at the end.  Accompanying music will be provided by our musicians, who play old time and bluegrass fiddle tunes.

Bookings commence in September.

Dancing Laughing Boy at The Greyhound, Tong – June 2017

Fiddle ‘n’ Feet dancing Laughing Boy at The Greyhound, Tong – June 2017

Saturday, 3 June 2017

Fiddle ‘n’ Feet enjoyed dancing at the Airedale Heifer, Riddlesden, along with Crook Morris, Flagcrackers of Craven, Rainbow Morris Dancers, Clogarythm, Buttercross Belles and Persephone.  It was good to meet up with our friends from these sides.

Heather of the Airedale Heifer very kindly provided lunch, and the rain held off until after the showcase was completed at the end of the afternoon.

We very much enjoyed dancing in the sunshine on our new boards and in our new kit – which was greatly admired.  Our wonderful team of musicians – Rita, Paul, Mac, David and Tony, helped make a memorable performance.  The audience were extremely appreciative.

A most enjoyable day.

Amounderness Ladies Morris Day of Dance, Chorley

Amounderness Ladies Morris Day of Dance, Chorley

We had a great day in Chorley, as guests of Amounderness Ladies Morris.  We joined 11 other teams to dance in the centre of town in our new kit and on our new boards.  We received many compliments about our dresses and Mac, who has done a fantastic job in making the boards, was congratulated by many of the teams on his fantastic workmanship.  They were a pleasure to dance on.

Thanks to Amounderness Ladies for their wonderful hospitality – lots of refreshments (including huge sandwiches at lunch time) kept us going throughout the day, with lovely cakes on offer at the finish of dancing.

The fantastic weather completed a day to remember.
