We had a wonderful day out in Harrogate as guests of Betty Luptons. Along with other guest teams – Briggate Morris, Cricket on the Hearth, Feet First, Flag and Bone, Knaresborough Mummers, Persephone and White Rose Garland Dancers, we danced at various spots around the town in beautiful sunshine. Crowds were smaller than usual (some sort of Royal celebration going on?!) but were very appreciative. A most enjoyable day.

Cuckoo Day, Marsden
The first dance out of the season – we had a great day in Marsden celebrating Cuckoo Day. The cuckoo is a harbinger of spring and each year the residents of Marsden mark the welcome change in the season with their Cuckoo Festival.
The weather was perfect – no rain, not too hot – and it was good to meet up with the other teams taking part. We danced to an appreciative audience. There was a terrific atmosphere and we enjoyed ourselves enormously.
Saturday, 16th December
Christmas Tree Festival, Northcliffe Church
We were delighted to be invited to dress a tree at our practice venue. Our offer to dance at the Festival was enthusiastically accepted.
Alison, Cath and Kay attended on Friday, 15th to dress our tree with team-related decorations and in our team colours of blue and white, with a little silver thrown in! The result was fantastic, though we say so ourselves. Trees dressed by other users of the Hall were fantastic.
We had a lovely afternoon and we enjoyed dancing two performances to an enthusiastic audience. We were joined by our friend Jo, who did some impressive Lancashire clog dances.
Proceeds of the event will go towards the refurbishment of the kitchen which adjoins the Hall.
We had a fantastic day at the Settle Folk Gathering, dancing with our hosts Flagcrackers of Craven, and fellow guest teams Buttercross Belles, Crook Morris and YonLot in the Market Square. The weather was very kind to us and we were received most enthusiastically by large crowds. We were also given the opportunity to perform a dance, Laughing Boy, in Victoria Hall in front of Mike Harding and an appreciative audience.
A great time was had by all!

If you would like to try out our style of dancing, please come and join us at our Workshop. Complete beginners are welcome and no experience is necessary. Participants will be required to wear hard soled shoes or tap shoes.
Our workshop will commence with a performance of one of our dances. We will then teach simple Appalachian steps from this dance which hopefully we will all perform at the end. Accompanying music will be provided by our musicians, who play old time and bluegrass fiddle tunes.
